Wee Byte has implemented and supported a number of web sites over the years, and continues to attract new customers in this area. As you can read on Steve Pike's resume page, we support all current web technologies as well as one or two unique to Wee Byte, such as the Pikie Pikie CMS.

Here are a few of the sites developed by Wee Byte.

Suko Thai cuisine.

This site has recently been developed for wife Noi's cooking classes. It is a good example of a dynamic site using Wordpress to allow easy updates to the site's news page, Wordpress plugins for dynamic user interaction with respect to bookings, and javascript libraries to implement interactive aspects such as photo galleries. The site uses a fluid layout which adjusts to the size of the browser window. It is also phone and tablet friendly.

Wild Geese

A motorcycle club site implemented using the Pikie Pikie CMS. This very large site currently contains about six hundred pages and some twelve hundred images, and is still growing! Despite its size it continues to perform very well. Club members are all allowed to edit the site and upload photos but changes are password protected to prevent spam and unauthorised uploads. Like all Pikie Pikie sites it automatically uses a more suitable layout on phones.

PikiePike.

Another large web site, currently consisting of almost four hundred pages of content, which documents the Pikie Pikie script used to drive a number of Wee Byte sites. The Pikie Pikie site is itself an example of a site driven by the Pikie Pikie script.

Ducati Noosa.

This site was not developed by Wee Byte but has been maintained by us for a number of years. It demonstrates the cost-effective possibilities when linking to content from partner sites. The information on current Ducati models is presented directly from Ducati's main web site, the used motorcycles are presented using web content from a third party site, the online shop uses a hosted solution, and the news page is a Pikie Pikie plugin which allows Ducati Noosa to easily update their news themselves.

Wythes real Estate.

This site was developed in conjunction with an independent graphic artist. Wee Byte was responsible for all technical aspects of the site, including server side scripting to keep the auctions and open homes pages updated from the realestate.com.au database, as well as implementing the Wordpress blog, search pages, photo gallery etc.

Your Furries Godmother.

A clean and simple web site for a local business, hosted with Wee Byte Hosting, It uses Javascript for its photo gallery and PHP on the server for the contact form. A calendar is incorporated, with a MySQL backend database; AJAX scripting is used for database administration through a password protected web page which updates dynamically as changes are applied.

Hinterland Arabians and Cottages.

A straightforward Wordpress-driven site with a good number of pages, a blog and some nice looking photo galleries.

Steve Pike

Steve Pike is Wee Byte. He has wide ranging credentials, with computer experience acquired during more than forty years in the computer industry. Starting out as a mainframe programmer, he has since programmed everything from ICL and IBM mainframes through various minicomputers, down to programmable terminals and the first home computers. He became involved with programming IBM PC's almost as soon as they were introduced in the early eighties.

Steve's focus narrowed to all aspects of PC software and hardware from about 1986, and he has never felt the need to return to mainframe programming since that time. He has programmed PC's and other microcomputers in Cobol, Assembler, C, Pascal, Python and Forth, not to mention writing his own computer languages where appropriate to the job in hand.

Steve developed his hardware and networking skills alongside his programming talents, a necessary broadening of skills in the modern industry where systems need to be put together and maintained according to the requirements of a particular project and the devceloper is typically responsible for all aspects of the system architecture. These skills have since proved very useful in setting up and maintaining installations for home and small business users.

Steve was an early adopter of Linux as a viable and affordable alternative to Microsoft and Apple operating systems. Linux has over the years matured into a product which he feels confident in advocating as a server and desktop solution for many customer requirements. Linux can give old hardware a new lease of life, performs wonderfully on modern systems and is priced right (i.e. in most cases, free). If you are getting tired of the constant security issues inherent in running a Windows system, or your current machine is getting to be slow as molasses under the weight of the anti-malware software you are required to run, give Steve a call to discuss the viability of Linux as a solution for your particular computer usage. You may be surprised to learn how much money you can save by using the Open Source solutions which have been developed to run on the Linux platform.

As well as resolving issues with hardware and installed software on desktop and server PC's, Steve is still actively programming. Much of his work these days revolves around web site implementation and maintenance. He develops static web sites, sites with lots of interaction through Javascript, and sites which are driven by databases on a web server. Pikie Pikie

Pikie Pikie is a Content Management System based on the Wiki concept. Sites based on this CMS can be edited directly in your web browser. You can allow anonymous access to the edit facility, editing can be protected by passwords, or you can allow editing only by registered users. Sites can be designed with their own unique theme, they can switch automatically to a compact theme for viewing on mobile devices, and you can optionally allow individual users to select their favourite from a number of themes you provide.

Contact us and arrange a time that is convenient to you.
We will send you a brief email containing a link to your personal support session.
Click on the link to establish the session and we will do the rest!

Windows, Mac and Linux PC's are all supported. In many cases we will be able to resolve your problem immediately. If a solution cannot be achieved using Remote Support we will at least have a better understanding of what is required when we follow up with on-site support and will often be able to fix the problem more quickly as a result.
